Canada's privacy commissionaire stated on Dec. 5 that internet users should be able opt out of online tracking to avoid viruses, and advertising. Also stated that there are so many users that are extremely uncomfortable with the notion of their online activities being tracked. People’s choices must be respected. There are so many people today that use the internet for shopping, banking, and other personal transactions this means people have to watch their back. some ways to prevent this are Don’t accept free cookies, Check all security settings, Clear your cache, Use a firewall, Install a link scanner, Be smart about passwords, Don’t rely on a computer to remember your passwords, Don’t use public computers, Create a separate email account, Use fake information where possible, If you have to use real information, keep it in lock down, Beware sneaky check boxes, Read the Terms of Service, Say no to auto fill, Don’t divulge your email if you don’t have to. ~~~ i personally believe that if people would just do this there would be a greater decrease in crime over the internet and people would have less of a chance to get viruses and bugs in their computers. now when i go online i will be sure to follow the guidelines up ahead
